GDC is seeking a consultant and business unit leader to manage a portfolio of clients within our Managed Accounting Services Group, which is focused on providing high-quality managed accounting services for our clients operating in the government contracting industry.  

Job Summary

As a Practice Leader, you will provide inspired and knowledgeable leadership within our multi-faceted professional service offerings.

The successful candidate will have progressive experience in the government contracting industry, strong knowledge of the FAR and CAS, and demonstrated business process improvement experience. Our Practice Leaders must have the ability to develop client relationships, become a trusted advisor to top executive/C level individuals and mentor direct report managers and staff.  In addition, they must have a commitment to grow the practice and continuing to develop high performing teams.

The Practice Leader will report directly to the President. This is an entrepreneurial opportunity to join a successful and growth-oriented consulting firm and become a member of the core leadership team.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Build senior level advisory relationships with existing and potential clients
  • Leverage disciplined approach to developing strategies in support of aggressive growth plans.
  • Participate directly on consulting assignments, helping to direct the actual consulting engagement and interact with clients as the senior member of the consultant team.
  • Ensure the quality of the team’s work with a focus on client service and timely & accurate financial reporting
  • Help recruit, develop and retain professionals – both new hires and existing – to support growth targets.
  • Play a role in practice growth by presenting at seminars and industry conferences and representing GDC before external audiences as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with other GDC practice teams.

 Qualifications and Skills

  • The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, enterprising, collaborative and personable with sound business acumen and strong leadership skills
  • At least 10 years of government contracting experience, with executive level responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of the FAR and CAS
  • Experience with DCAA and other government audits
  • Experience with Deltek systems (Costpoint)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and pursue business development opportunities for consulting and managed service opportunities
  • Proven ability to lead, communicate and operate effectively in a collaborative, matrixed organizational structure.
  • Enhance and establish high quality performance standards and processes to continue growing and developing a successful professional service team.
  • Experience in managing P&L and revenue targets along with the demonstrated ability to exceed such targets.
